After persuading South African TV to let him film footage for entertainment reports from Cologne and Amsterdam, Gerrie did a spell in London - co-ordinating directors and producers for multi-camera film shoots of operas, ballet and classical music performances.

He then worked as a producer for DoRo, the German/Austrian production company that pioneered music television in central Europe. There he honed his organisational skills and began to assemble his peerless pool of contacts, producing and directing ambitious creative productions across a wide variety of musical styles, from Billy Joel to Garth Brooks.
